Duck River Grey-Headed Flying-Fox Camp management Plan
ECA managed a project which included all flora and fauna surveys, community engagement and consultation to develop an integrated strategy to preserve and expand the Duck River GHFF camp in situ, supporting the conservation of this species while preventing conflict with other land uses
Blacktown International Sports Park wetland design review
ECA reviewed the design for a large artificial wetland and stormwater harvesting facility to be built adjacent to a major sporting facility. Report included recommendations on plant selection, soil media and controlling mosquitoes. As of October 2014 project has been constructed and substantially planted as per ECA recommendations.
Vertebrate Pest Control within Wildlife Protection
Areas – Warringah Council
DFE undertook non-lethal trapping of vertebrate pests within Wildlife Protection Areas throughout Warringah. Work included on-ground control of pest animals, management of by-catch and data analysis and reporting.
Fauna Survey and Biodiversity Strategy – Canterbury City Council
DFE performed flora and fauna assessment work, provided technical advice and carried out community engagement to produce a biodiversity strategy for the entirety of the Canterbury Local Government Area.
Fauna Survey and Recommendations, Colongra Swamp
Office of Environment and Heritage DFE performed fauna survey works and provided recommendations for the future management and monitoring of Colongra Swamp.
Fauna Survey of Maluga Reserve, Sefton Golf course and other urban parks in Bankstown
DFE surveyed of all Birds on and surrounding Duck River and its tributaries. Works Ecological Consultants Australia – Design, Reporting and Monitoring included day and night surveys over a period of 6 months and recommendations on holistic catchment wide management.
Plans of Management and Plans of Operation for 3 Sydney Water Owned Wetlands – Sydney Water
DFE carried out wetland Surveys including opportunistic and review fauna Survey and recommendations, community and stakeholder consultation and engagement, and writing Plans of Management.
Bird Survey Lake Gillawarna – Bankstown Council
Survey of all Birds on and surrounding the Lake. Surveys included day and night over 6 months.
Flora and Fauna Survey and Impact Assessment and Waterway Impact Statement, Allenby Reserve – Warringah Council
Carried out analysis flora and fauna prior to construction of walking tracks through remnant bushland. Key findings included the discovery of a population of vulnerable Red Crowned Toadlets .
Sydney Park Wetlands Stormwater Re-use Scheme – City of Sydney
DFE are contracted as the project ecologists, overseeing works to ensure preservation of fauna and habitat and providing recommendations on design to maximise habitat for native wildlife in the urban park and wetlands. Work also included translocation of frogs, eels, turtles and other wildlife during construction phase.
Saltmarsh Monitoring and Reporting. – Baulderstone JDN,
Port Botany Expansion Project
DFE undertook a saltmarsh creation program including mapping,
monitoring and reporting with twenty sites monitored weekly and
monthly for three years within Penrhyn Estuary. Carried out fauna, flora and physical environmental surveys assessing saltmarsh before and post construction including photo-monitoring points. Project also included Saltmarsh Restoration and Re-creation Projects.
